Bird specimens, 18th century

Bird specimens, 18th-century artwork. The hooded crow (Corvus cornix, upper left, also 'sea-crow'), is found on the Isle of Man. At centre right is a copped wren. At lower left is an osprey (Pandion haliaetus). At lower right is a Soland goose (Anser bassanus). Artwork from 'The Natural History of Lancashire, Cheshire, and the Peak in Derbyshire' (1700) by English physician and naturalist Charles Leigh, elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1685
