'Locarno (Ticinese: Locarn) is the capital of the Locarno district, located on the northern tip of Lake Maggiore (Lago Maggiore) in the Swiss canton of Ticino, close to Ascona at the foot of the Alps. It has a population of about 15, 000(60, 000 for the urban area including Ascona). The official language of Locarno is Italian. It is the 74th biggest city in Switzerland by population[citation needed] and the 3rd biggest of the canton Ticino, after Lugano and Bellinzona.' Locarno Date: circa 1900

'Bellinzona (Italian pronunciation: [bellin?tso?na] French: Bellinzone, pronounced: [b?l??zon]; archaic German: Bellenz [?b?l?nts]; Latin Bilitio [bi?litjo]) is the capital of the canton Ticino in Switzerland. The city is famous for its three castles (Castelgrande, Montebello, Sasso Corbaro) that have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2000. The town lies east of the Ticino river, at the foot of the Alps. It stretches along the river valley, surrounded by the southern ranges of the Lepontine Alps to the east and west, and by the Lugano Prealps to the south.' Bellinzona Date: circa 1900
